your take on gas tank width

I'm wondering what you guys think about gas tank width. Personally,I can't stand narrow tanks. I prefer something wide enough that my knees naturally rest against it. I never got why Yamaha made some bikes with tanks that were actually narroweer than the seat

My old Virago, XS500, and my son's V7 Classic were all too slim for my liking. The best tanks for me were on my CBF1000 and NT650V Deauville,they were wide enough to feel comfortabel. A foot wide between the knees just feels right

Yeah, the width makes a rather huge difference in comfort and control. I dont like narrow tanks either, especially on longer rides. Sounds like you're all about that comfy fit, and bikes like the CBF1000 and Deauville really nailed it for sure. Yamaha definitely went a bit too slim on some models, which doesn't work for everyone. I feel you man.

Yeah, this is my same sentiment. It's quite slim for my liking, too, but I just learned to avoid it somehow? Because more things matter more than that and Yamaha has delivered really well on the other aspects of the Star. It's very comfy to me too.

My FJR has a nice wide tank and it gives a good feel, those skinny tanks might look sleek or retro, but if I'm riding more than 30 minutes, I want my legs to have somewhere to rest
