Watching a friend grow more careful

I've noticed a close friend changing as he nears 60. He once thrived on risk, riding motorcycles, lifting heavy, sprinting down slick slopes, and now, he's far more cautious, weighing consequences in ways he never used to. Of course, aging makes recovery slower, and injuries hit harder, but it's striking to see the shift. Is this wisdom settling in with age, or just fear slowly taking over?

I'd say it's probably wisdom. Injuries take longer to hear, we're not as observant at that age, our strength declines, so it's just a matter of someone knowing his limitations, which is what your friend is experiencing.

It does seem more like acceptance than fear, I guess shifting from "push the limits" to "play it smart" is just another phase of the journey we all eventually face

Absolutely, @space man. Yeah. I believe this means that life is something he holds dear, so that's just wise. It's a matter of wanting to live longer so he can make the most out of riding his Star. :) Life is worth living, and he's probably already made the most of his risk-taking through the years.

Age is a big factor I can vouch for that.
Experiences along the way could affect his change, but it's a good change . I'm 65 still riding almost everyday, but I was never into
Risks, just the slow lane taking it all in
