motorcycle fatalities on the rise, what can we do?

Man, I just saw some wild stats about motorcycle deaths going way up. NHTSA's numbers show a crazy 20% jump in the last 10 years, and get this: an 8% spike just between 2020 and 2021 alone. Almost 6,000 riders died in 2021. that's the most since they started counting in the 70s.

That year, almost 6,000 of us died on U.S. roads, making up 14% of all traffic fatalities. Plus, another 82,000-plus riders got injured. We all know bikes aren't as safe as cars, but NHTSA figured out that per mile, riders are nearly 24 times more likely to die than folks in cars.
That's some heavy stuff, right? But it ain't gonna stop us from riding. So, what do you guys think? What can we do to turn this trend around?

I get it, those statistics are pretty alarming. I've checked out the same NHTSA reports, and nearly 6,000 deaths among riders in 2021 is concerning. We're still 24 times more likely to die per mile than people in cars, which is staggering.

For me, three main things really matter: wearing the right gear, getting proper rider training, and staying alert while riding. I always make sure to wear a full-face helmet, an armored jacket, and gloves, it's just a rule I don't break.

I'm curious, though, how many of you have taken an advanced riding course or a day at the track? And do you actually wear all your gear every time you ride, or just on those longer trips?

I don't think any of us are surprised by the risk, but man seeing it laid out like that definitely makes it real, I think more rider training and awareness would help, especially for new riders jumping on powerful bikes with no experience and also for these crazy motorcycle junkies
